Adult Rowing Programs
NOTE – In 2020 we are offering modified/limited programming due to the COVID-19 pandemic. See registration links for updated details which may be different from the descriptions below.
The goal of the Adult Rowing program at EBR is to offer opportunities for all levels of rowing for both men and women over age 21. We are always interested in expanding our team and welcoming new members. Whether you are looking to improve your fitness, enhance your rowing technique, compete in regattas or simply interested in enjoying time on the water, East Bay Rowing is the place for you!
Our programs run on a seasonal schedule with offerings for brand new rowers, recreational rowers and competitive rowers. Rowers looking to compete have the opportunity to row in a variety of regattas each season. During our spring, summer and fall programs, we row on the Barrington River from Walker Farm in Barrington, RI. During the winter months, we offer group training indoors at EBR’s training facility in Warren, RI.
These programs already sound fantastic, no? But that’s not all East Bay Rowing has to offer our adult rowers! Building camaraderie is important to us. Having fun together on and off the water is important to us. Through regularly scheduled, low key socials and fun events we strive to make EBR a home for everyone.
Summer Masters Rowing (sculling only for 2020)
Time to play on the water in the best season of the year! 8 Weeks of Fun- Beginning July 6th- Aug 29th. We can accommodate 8 rowers in each group- 4 in zephyrs and 4 in racing singles. We are not offering Adult Sweeps options for Summer 2020.
Rowing is a water sport- you will get wet. Participants will water launch their shells. This means they will enter the water to their knees to launch as we do not have a dock. In addition, safety of our rowers is first and foremost. Weather conditions in are quite variable. It is the coaches decision to be on the water. If available, we will meet indoors pending unfavorable conditions.
Fall and Spring Masters Rowing
We enjoyed a modified/limited sculling season for late Spring 2020 and are currently developing plans for our Fall 2020 season. Stay tuned for details about Fall to be posted here and sent via email later in the summer.
Winter Indoor and Tabata Training
In the winter, EBR rowers head indoors to train on the ergometers (ergs). The erg is a fantastic machine that works every part of your body with no impact. Look up the definition of an erg on Urban Dictionary and you’ll giggle. We play fun music and get a terrific low impact, full body workout. Bonus – it is really great training for on-water racing. We train from November thorough March. We train to compete for the Crash B’s in Boston. Check it out! You WILL get a great workout. EBR’s Indoor facility is located at 84 Cutler Street Warren RI.
Tabata training provides an awesome cross training opportunity to complement our seasonal rowing programs. Join in the fun Sunday mornings. You can do this and still get to church on time! This is normally held at our indoor facility on Cutler St in Warren.
- Adults, don’t let the kids show you up with their stylish EBR gear. Order our adult EBR gear here (Sample sizes at Cutler.)
- All rowers must complete a swim test prior to participating in on the water programs.
- Each rower must have a US Rowing Membership. You can obtain your individual membership from US Rowing here. (Use the EBR Membership Code: EDHQS and be sure to specify EBR in Rhode Island. There is a club of the same name in California.)
Still not sure if rowing with East Bay Rowing is for you? Maybe our junior rowers will convince you.
