Junior Rowing Programs – We Have A Seat For You

East Bay Rowing exists to spread the sport of rowing in the beautiful East Bay of Rhode Island. We offer rowing classes, camps and competitive rowing teams for juniors. For information on how you can join the most rewarding sport on the water follow the links below, or email Deb@eastbayrowing.com. Not sure if you want to join rowing? Maybe our junior rowers will convince you.

East Bay Rowing offers both fall and spring competitive rowing for youth ages 13 and up. We have boats for novice through junior varsity and varsity rowers with boat options of 4’s and 8’s. EBR competes in about 4 regional regattas each season (spring and fall). Junior rowers start as novice for their first year of competitive rowing. Then they join our junior varsity and varsity program. Our coxswain training gives kids the knowledge and confidence to lead a boat of their peers. (Rowers need to have completed one of our learn to row camps or have had on-water rowing experience to join a team.)

Info for all teams:  You must have prior zephyr experience AND a recommendation from your previous coach to sign up for this program. This is a competitive racing team – rowers will participate in up to 4 races throughout the fall.  Races will require travel and occur on the weekends.  This program is treated as a highly committed and competitive program. Attendance at practices are required.

Rowing is a water sport- you will get a little wet.  Participants will water launch their shells.  This means they will enter the water to their knees to launch as we do not have a dock.  In addition, safety of our rowers is first and foremost.  Weather conditions in the spring are quite variable.  It is the coaches decision to be on the water.  We will meet indoors if the conditions are not favorable.

Juniors Rowing  – Indoor Erg

In the winter EBR rowers head indoors to train on the ergometers (ergs). The erg is a fantastic machine that works every part of your body with no impact. Look up the definition of an erg on Urban Dictionary and you’ll giggle. We play fun music and get a terrific low impact, full body workout. Bonus – it is really great training for on-water racing. We train from November thorough March. EBR’s Indoor facility is located at 84 Cutler Street Warren RI.
Cost: $300
